The mouse weighs just 38 g and uses a magnetic folding mechanism to collapse its body. Once folded, it becomes flat enough to fit alongside a laptop inside the same sleeve or compartment. The magnetic closure also eliminates the need for a separate protective case, making the mouse easier to pack and carry between locations.

Connectivity includes both Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz wireless. Multi-device pairing allows the Toad Fold to remain connected to more than one device, reducing the need to repeatedly pair the mouse when moving between a laptop and an Android tablet. A USB receiver is included for the 2.4 GHz connection, providing an alternative when a stable, low-latency wireless link is preferred.

When unfolded, the mouse takes on a curved ergonomic shape designed for longer periods of use. Its sensitivity can be adjusted to as much as 3,200 DPI, allowing users to adapt cursor movement to different tasks. The matte black exterior keeps the appearance understated while helping reduce visible fingerprints.

Power comes from a built-in rechargeable battery, with USB-C used for charging. An automatic sleep mode reduces power consumption while the mouse is idle, helping extend battery life when the device is being carried between different workspaces rather than used at a permanent desk.

The Toad Fold supports Windows, macOS and Android, covering common combinations of laptops and tablets. Its multi-device capability is particularly useful for people who regularly alternate between different screens during the day.

The design is aimed at a specific group of users: students moving between library tables, remote workers switching between cafés and home, and professionals working across multiple offices. For these users, a mouse needs to be compact enough to disappear into an existing laptop bag but comfortable enough to remain useful throughout a full work session.

Rather than simply shrinking a conventional mouse, Portronics changes its physical structure. The result is a peripheral that becomes nearly flat during transport and returns to a more ergonomic form when needed, addressing one of the most common compromises associated with portable mice.
