Finishing and painting are often among the most time-consuming steps in the 3D printing process. The G1X is designed to simplify that workflow by producing finished, full-color models with a high level of detail straight from the machine.

At the heart of the system is an Epson printhead featuring 3,200 nozzles and eight ink channels. It can reproduce more than 10 million colors at resolutions of up to 1,440 × 2,400 DPI while also supporting transparent elements within printed objects.

According to HeyGears, the G1X is among the first desktop-sized 3D printers to combine these capabilities in a compact format. The printer produces layers measuring just 10 to 20 microns thick—thinner than a human hair—using a motion control system that delivers precise detail. During printing, colored ink is deposited and UV-cured layer by layer, while water-soluble support structures can be removed by soaking the completed model in water.

Beyond conventional 3D printing, the G1X supports textured printing with surface relief up to 5 mm high, allowing users to recreate effects such as leather grain, wood carvings, and oil painting brushstrokes. It also functions as a 2D UV printer compatible with more than 400 materials, including wood, metal, stone, ceramics, plastics, canvas, and glass, enabling the production of customized items ranging from phone cases to decorative accessories.

The printer offers a build chamber measuring 330 × 130 × 420 mm (12.9 × 5.1 × 16.5 in), supports print heights of up to 150 mm (5.9 in), and works with two print bed sizes.

Ease of use is another major focus. Software available for Windows and macOS provides AI-assisted 3D modeling, converts text prompts and images into printable models, and adds depth and texture to flat artwork. A companion mobile app allows users to monitor and control print jobs remotely.

The G1X also incorporates an integrated air filtration system, automatic cleaning routines, and clog-prevention functions to reduce maintenance requirements. Combined with its ability to produce detailed full-color models, textured prints, and UV-printed products on a wide range of materials, the printer is designed for applications including collectible figures, architectural models, product prototypes, personalized gifts, and creative printing services.
