Although Brompton is primarily known for its non-electric models, the company ventured into the ebike market in 2017 with the release of the Brompton Electric. The G Line, described as "the most versatile bike in the world," offers both a standard version equipped with an 8-speed Shimano Alfine hub and an electric option that comes with a 4-speed derailleur and a new 250-W rear-hub motor, providing three levels of pedal assistance.

The ebike's 345-Wh battery has been thoroughly tested for reliability and safety. It's stored in a front bag and offers a range of 30-60 km per charge—sufficient for most daily commutes, though not particularly impressive compared to other folding ebikes on the market. The included charger can fully recharge the battery in four hours, making it easy to top up while at work if your round trip exceeds the per-charge range. There's also a mobile app that functions as a dashboard and allows for system updates, with an optional quad-lock phone mount available.

All G Line models share similar core features. They're constructed with a new steel frame available in three sizes, and both the stem and seatpost can be adjusted for a more customized fit. A roller version comes with a rear rack and small wheels, making it easy to roll the folded bike along platforms or flip it into parked mode. When folded, the bikes compact to 72 x 67 x 21 cm.

Custom-designed handlebars with ergonomic grips enhance stability, while a wider saddle and large platform pedals improve comfort and grip. The bikes are equipped with Tektro hydraulic disc brakes featuring 140-mm rotors on the front and 160-mm on the rear, as well as integrated lighting and fenders. The standard model starts at 13.9 kg, and the ebike version weighs in at 16.1 kg.
