The Notra Neo is positioned as a more accessible alternative to BOYA's Notra, while retaining the flagship model's core AI capabilities. The device is scheduled to launch on September 4, 2026, at IFA 2026 in Berlin, targeting users who want dedicated AI note-taking without necessarily needing the higher hardware specifications of a flagship recorder.

Several hardware specifications have been reduced compared with the Notra. Storage drops from 64GB to 8GB, the ambient recording range decreases from 10 meters to 5 meters, and battery life is reduced from 24 hours to 20 hours. The central AI experience, however, remains largely intact.

The recorder can transcribe more than 140 languages and dialects while labeling different speakers. Its AI system can generate summaries, to-do lists, mind maps and other insights from recorded conversations. More than 60 professional templates are also available for different recording scenarios, providing structured ways to process captured information.

One of the more significant features is AI Search, which allows users to search across their entire recording history rather than manually scanning through audio files. This effectively turns a collection of recordings into a searchable knowledge base, potentially useful for lectures, meetings, interviews and professional conversations.

Notra Neo also uses automatic scenario detection to switch between Ambient, Phone Call and Bluetooth recording modes. Ambient mode captures 360-degree audio within a 5-meter range, while Bluetooth mode is intended for virtual meetings conducted through earbuds. Phone Call mode handles telephone conversations. The automatic switching is designed to reduce the need for manual configuration during a recording session.

Recordings and processed content can be synchronized and exported through the BOYA OS App and Web. Supported outputs include audio files, transcripts, summaries and mind maps.

The hardware adopts the compact square form common to dedicated AI recorders, but the Neo has a cleaner front panel than the flagship Notra. The previous “BOYA Notra AI” marking is replaced with a simpler “Boya” wordmark, giving the device a more understated consumer-oriented appearance.

By preserving the central AI functionality while scaling back selected hardware specifications, the Notra Neo takes a practical approach to making dedicated AI recording more approachable. Rather than simply storing audio, it is designed to turn conversations and spoken information into structured, searchable content that can be revisited and used later.
