This 12-ebike charging station aims to take the process of charging outdoors, making it safer and more sustainable. Beam Global, which was originally founded as Envision Solar in 2006, has extensive experience in solar-powered charging solutions, particularly with electric vehicles (EVs). Their flagship product, the EV Arc, is a portable electric car charging point powered by a solar panel that can be installed without the need for trenching or laying cables.

The EV Arc comes equipped with a 4.4-kW solar array and integrated battery storage of up to 40 kWh, allowing it to support up to six charging points. Thousands of these units have already been deployed across the U.S., with clients including the City of New York, Google, and the U.S. Army.

Beam Global is now leveraging this experience to create the BeamBike, an outdoor ebike charging station inspired by the EV Arc. CEO Desmond Wheatley explained that customer requests and concerns over indoor fires caused by ebike batteries prompted the development of this new product, which offers a portable, grid-independent charging solution.

The BeamBike station will feature the same 4.4-kW solar array as the EV Arc and can store between 20 and 40 kWh of energy. It can charge up to 12 ebikes simultaneously and is designed with convenience in mind, allowing users to lock their bikes and plug them into a weather-protected 120-V outlet.

This solution is expected to be deployed in various locations, including transport hubs, parks, malls, and campuses, with the added flexibility of being transported to one-off events. While pricing hasn't been announced, Beam Global may offer a leasing option similar to its EV Arc program.
