It's somewhat surprising that Aeropress released the Premium this year instead of waiting until 2025, its 20th anniversary, though the upgrade feels long overdue. Despite its popularity among coffee enthusiasts, the original Aeropress, with its plastic construction, didn’t quite match the sleek, high-end look of more expensive coffee gear like espresso machines or French presses.

One critique, though, has been the Aeropress' less-than-stylish design. Its basic plastic construction, from the original polycarbonate to BPA-free copolyester in 2009 and polypropylene in 2014, was seen as lacking sophistication. Even the smoky tint added in 2010 to address coffee staining didn’t fully resolve the aesthetic concerns. Many felt it resembled a plastic syringe more than a premium coffee device.

Last year, Aeropress made progress with the Tritan-based Clear model, offering a more glass-like appearance. However, some users still disliked the presence of plastic for both health and visual reasons. Responding to customer demand, Aeropress has finally introduced the all-glass Aeropress Premium. Featuring a handblown borosilicate glass tube, an anodized aluminum plunger, and a stainless steel filter cap, it’s an elegant addition to any coffee bar or upscale gathering.

Despite its new look, the Premium offers the same signature Aeropress experience: smooth, grit-free coffee in two minutes through immersion, fast plunging, and micro-filtration. It can make a variety of coffee styles, including cold brew, American filter coffee, and espresso-style drinks, with a capacity of 10 oz. While ideal for home use, it's not recommended for travel or dishwasher cleaning.
