Opak is a traditional snack made primarily from glutinous rice and is widely regarded as one of Tasikmalaya's signature culinary specialties. Its distinctive flavor and traditional production methods have given the snack not only economic importance but also significant cultural value within the region.
During the celebration, a total of 3,123 servings of opak were prepared and presented to the public. The large-scale effort showcased the strong cooperation between the local government, MSMEs, and community groups, all working together to promote one of Tasikmalaya's best-known traditional foods.
Beyond setting a record, the event reflected the regency government's commitment to preserving regional culinary heritage and ensuring that traditional foods remain widely recognized by future generations. By placing opak at the center of the anniversary celebration, the organizers also highlighted the important role of local food producers in supporting cultural preservation and regional economic development.
With 3,123 servings of opak presented in a single event, the celebration earned official recognition from MURI (Indonesian World Records Museum) as the largest serving of opak. The achievement not only celebrates the scale of the event but also reinforces Tasikmalaya's dedication to safeguarding its culinary traditions while promoting local heritage through community collaboration.
