The event was held to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence and brought together thousands of participants from various sections of the community. Originally serving as a gathering and networking event for nature lovers, TAPA 2026 developed into a broader national celebration that brought together different communities and groups from across Greater Tasikmalaya (Tasikmalaya Raya).

The highlight of the event was the raising of the Red-and-White flags, Indonesia's national flag, around the crater rim of Mount Galunggung. A total of 2,681 flags were carried by participants and raised throughout the crater area, creating a striking national celebration against the mountain landscape.

To take part in the activity, participants brought their own flags and walked from the Bukit Nangreu camping area toward the crater zone. They followed the yellow and blue stairways of Mount Galunggung before gathering around the crater rim to raise the flags.

With 2,681 Red-and-White flags raised around the crater area of Mount Galunggung, the event earned official recognition from MURI (Indonesian World Records Museum) for the largest number of Red-and-White Indonesian flags raised on a mountain. The 2,681 flags represented the spirit of togetherness among the people of Greater Tasikmalaya in celebrating the 81st anniversary of Indonesian independence, while creating a memorable highlight of TAPA 2026.
