[WORLDKINGS] The famous shopping centers and supermarkets in the world – P10 – ION Orchard (Singapore) : Must visited shopping mall in the Lion City

(WorldKings.org) At the heart of Orchard Road, ION Orchard is Singapore’s premier mall. Spread over eight levels, visitors are treated to a unique shopping experience at over 300 retail, F&B and entertainment stores, and six luxury brands duplex units. It is part of an integrated development that also comprises a 56-storey, 218m high condominium, The Orchard Residences – the highest building in Orchard Road.

The Orchard Turn Development, now known as The Orchard Residences and ION Orchard after its official names were revealed on 5 February 2007 and 16 July that year respectively, was built on the site of the former park located directly above Orchard. The MRT station's Exit C was closed and demolished on 15 January 2008 to make way for the ION Orchard development. A replacement for the exit, Exit E, was opened on the same day.

ION Orchard has 941,700 square feet (87,490 m2) of gross floor area and 663,000 square feet (61,600 m2) of retail space. Designed by RSP Architects Planners & Engineers Ltd with Benoy, the Orchard Turn Development has won two EG Retail and Future Project Awards, the Best Architectural Entry and the Best Retail Development over 20,000 m², at Mapic 2006 held in Cannes, France, in November 2006.

Expanding four floors under and four floors above the ground, ION houses a mix of brands and boutiques ranging from high-end to mid-range and high street brands. Level 1, 2 and 3 are dedicated to luxury brands such as Gucci, Prada and Dior. However, the price point drops as you descend into the basement floors; here shoppers can find a wider variety of affordable brands like H&M, Zara and Uniqlo.

ION is one of the few malls in Singapore that has concierge desks situated throughout the mall to assist their customers. Here tourists can find all the information they need on the latest discounts and offers to enhance their shopping experience. Customers can also get assistance in making reservation at a restaurant or getting taxi service at the concierge desk. Tourists receive a complimentary airport transfer in an exclusive limousine ride upon minimum spending of $5000.

Shoppers can spend a relaxing evening 56 stories above the Orchard Road, taking in the breath-taking view of the city through an impressive 360-degree observatory situated above ION Sky. Here you can also indulge in a memorable dining experience at the renowned Salt Bar & Grill owned by celebrity chef Luke Mangan.
