Based on the world record nomination from Europe Records Institute (EURI) and Decision No. WK/USA.INDIA/1040/2023/No.496, World Records Union (WorldKings) officially declared Fernsehturm Stuttgart as the world's first telecommunications tower constructed from reinforced concrete on August 08th, 2023.
The Fernsehturm Stuttgart (Stuttgart Television Tower) is a 216.61 m telecommunications tower in Stuttgart, Germany. It was the first telecommunications tower in the world constructed from reinforced concrete, and it is the prototype for many such towers worldwide.
The tower was built between 1954 and 1956, and was inaugurated on 5 February 1956. It is located on the hill Hoher Bopser (elevation 483 meters) in the southern Stuttgart borough of Degerloch. From the observation decks there is a view of Stuttgart, from the forests and vineyards in and around Stuttgart to the Swabian Jura and the Black Forest.
The tower is a popular tourist destination and is open to the public for visits. There are two observation decks, one at a height of 153 meters and the other at 166 meters. The upper observation deck offers a 360-degree view of the city and surrounding area.
