The record was achieved during a choral festival organized by Universitas Kristen Waingapu (UNWIRA) in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. The central concept of the event was both simple and ambitious: a single song was performed repeatedly, each time using a different musical arrangement, resulting in a total of 15 distinct arrangement variations presented within one coordinated program. This accomplishment was officially verified and certified by MURI as the highest number of arrangement variants performed for a single song by a choir.

Each arrangement differed meaningfully from the others in terms of harmonic structure, vocal distribution, rhythmic treatment, tempo, and expressive character. Some versions emphasized traditional choral harmony, while others incorporated contemporary techniques and stylistic influences drawn from Indonesian musical culture. Despite these differences, all arrangements maintained a clear connection to the original composition, demonstrating how one musical work can be reinterpreted creatively without losing its core identity.

MURI’s evaluation focused on the originality and clarity of each arrangement, ensuring that every version represented a genuine reinterpretation rather than a minor modification. The judging process also considered musical coherence, performance consistency, and the ability of the choir to transition smoothly between contrasting arrangements within a single event.

This record stands out because it highlights arrangement diversity as a measurable artistic achievement. Instead of rewarding the number of singers or the length of performance, MURI recognized the intellectual and creative effort behind developing multiple distinct musical interpretations of one piece. It reflects a broader understanding of musical excellence that values creativity, experimentation, and musical craftsmanship.

By documenting this achievement, MURI underscores the evolving nature of choral music in Indonesia. The record serves as an inspiration for choirs, music educators, and composers to explore new approaches to arrangement and performance, reinforcing the idea that innovation plays a vital role in preserving and advancing musical traditions.
