  • 2017: Sumitomo Electric and its subsidiary, J-Power Systems, built an interconnecting transmission line between the UK and Belgium over a total length of 141.5 km including a 130 km long undersea connection.

  • 2023: Sumitomo Electric expanded its activity in the US by signing licence with US Conec to produce multi-fiber connector products
