Grab Holdings Inc. is a multinational technology company headquartered in One-north, Singapore. It is the developer of a super-app for transportation, food delivery and digital payments services on mobile devices that operates in Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

The company was founded as MyTeksi by Anthony Tan and Tan Hooi Ling in 2012 to make taxi rides safer in Malaysia. By 2016, it was rebranded as Grab with an expansion of partnerships in Southeast Asia that coincided with the development of products for couriers.

Grab is Southeast Asia's first decacorn, and the biggest technology startup in the region. It became publicly-traded on NASDAQ in 2021 following the largest SPAC merger at the time. In 2023, Fast Company listed Grab amongst the most innovative companies in the Asia-Pacific region.

The company’s milestones:

2012: GrabTaxi was founded in Malaysia by Anthony Tan and Tan Hooi Ling under the name “My Teksi”.

2013: GrabTaxi expanded to the Philippines in August 2013, and to Singapore and Thailand in October of the same year.

2014: GrabTaxi launched in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and Jakarta in Indonesia. On September 11, GrabTaxi launched the first GrabBike service in Ho Chi Minh City as a pilot service.

February2015: the company launched GrabCar+ (a service that provides a fleet of higher-end cars) in the Philippines.

November2015: Grab launched GrabExpress courier service.

January2016: GrabTaxi was rebranded as "Grab" with a new, redesigned logo.

By December2016: Grab added GrabChat and launched GrabRewards and GrabShare taxi and car-sharing services.

2017: Grab launched the GrabCoach service for booking large passenger vehicles and GrabPay payment service.

2018: Grab launched GrabFood food delivery service and electric motorbike rental service called GrabWheels.

2019: Grab announced the construction of a new headquarters in Singapore supporting a total of 3,000 employees and a second headquarters in Jakarta, Indonesia.

April2019: Grab launched its first cloud kitchen, GrabKitchen. 50 GrabKitchens was established in six Southeast Asian countries within a year.

2020: Grab launched GrabCare, GrabMart and GrabAssistant.

As of April2021: Grab is reported to have more than 214 million app downloads and operations in more than 400 cities.

2022: the company introduced GrabMaps mapping and location technology for use in "hyperlocal" routes in Southeast Asian cities.
