(worldking.org) Flex Ltd. (previously known as Flextronics International Ltd. or Flextronics) is an American Singaporean-domiciled multinational diversified manufacturing company.

 It is the third largest global electronics manufacturing services (EMS), original design manufacturer (ODM) company by revenue, behind only Pegatron for what concerns original equipment manufacturers. Flex's corporate headquarters are located in Singapore, and its administrative headquarters are in San Jose, California. The company has manufacturing operations in over 30 countries, totaling about 160,000 employees.

Production mainly includes circuit boards and mobile phone components. In some cases, Flex has taken over the entire manufacturing and installation organization from larger companies such as Ericsson and Telia.

 

The company's milestones:

- In 1969: Joe and Barbara-Ann McKenzie started a family business called Flextronics making circuit boards for the growing number of companies in Silicon Valley.

- In 1981: Flextronics became one of the first US service manufacturers to go offshore by setting up a manufacturing facility in Singapore.

- In 1990: Company changed its name to Flextronics International, Ltd.

Flextronics announced that it had been chosen by Brammo, Inc., former producer of electric traction motors and traction batteries, to be its manufacturing partner for the production and distribution of plug-in electric motorcycles and components..

The company signed an agreement with Lenovo to provide manufacturing for Europe.

In 2012: Flextronics incubated Elementum, a start-up supply chain management (SCM) company based in Mountain View, California.

In 2014: Flextronics was named as the manufacturer of the Fitbit Force by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The company announced it changed the company name from Flextronics to Flex.
