Stunning wheelchair-bound models strike a pose on the catwalk as Moscow Fashion Week promotes diversity on the runway

25-03-2017

(WorldKings) Elegant disabled models took to the catwalk in their wheelchairs in a stunning show for Moscow Fashion Week today.

Draped in chic cocktail dresses and trendy leather trousers, the women dazzled on the runway the Gostiny Dvor Shopping and Exhibition Centre.

They were modelling the latest collection by Open World, a non-profit partnership that looks to better integrate people with disabilities.

They were joined on the catwalk by able-bodied models. Each enjoyed their moment in the spotlight before coming together for the finale.

A stand-out look of the night was a midnight blue long-sleeved velvet dress with lace detailing, which was accessorised with a vintage brooch and soft black veil.

Another model looked flawless in a gothic-inspired ensemble of leather trousers and tight-fitting top, finished with an embellished choker and lashings of plum lipstick.
The models all worked their angles for the cameras, posing up a storm at the end of the runway.

Moscow has long been a pioneer when it comes to integrating disabled models into fashion.

In 2015 dozens of models with various disabilities featured in a show titled Fashion Without Borders.

Designers Daria Razumihina, Sabina Gorelik, Dmitriy Neu, Masha Sharoeva, Albina Bikbulatova, Oksana Livencova, Miguel Angelo Fernandes Carvalho and Christine Wolf presented a couture collection designed for their bodies.
