The record recognizes a creative journey spanning more than a decade. Since 2012, Poet Nguyen Dinh Tranh has composed 1,000 poems dedicated to 1,000 different flower species. Each poem consists of four lines, with most written in the traditional Vietnamese 'luc bat' (six-eight) verse form. The poems have been selected and published in the multi-volume collection Noi Niem Voi Hoa (Sentiments for Flowers).

A decade-long journey with flowers

Flowers have been the central theme throughout Poet Nguyen Dinh Tranh's creative work. Each poem focuses on an individual flower, capturing its appearance, characteristics and the emotions or associations it evokes in the author's perspective. The collection includes familiar flowers such as apricot blossoms, lotus flowers and roses, as well as less commonly encountered species. Some poems incorporate alternative names or distinctive characteristics of the flowers, adding an informative element to the poetic expression.

The consistent four-line format is another defining feature of the collection. Within a concise structure, each poem seeks to evoke the image of a particular flower while conveying a thought or emotion. The predominant use of luc bat gives the works a familiar Vietnamese rhythm and preserves a distinctive element of the country's poetic tradition.

The World Record marks the latest milestone in Poet Nguyen Dinh Tranh's record-setting journey. In 2017, the Vietnam Records Organization recognized him as “The person who has composed the largest number of poems about flower species in Vietnam.” At the time, his two volumes, Mot Tram Noi Niem Voi Hoa, published in 2012 and 2016, were key parts of his ongoing project. By 2024, he had completed six volumes of Noi Niem Voi Hoa, containing 605 poems written in the luc bat form. The Asia Book of Records subsequently recognized this achievement. The collection continued to expand over the following years, reaching 1,000 poems about 1,000 different flower species and culminating in the World Record recognized by the World Records Union - WorldKings.

Noi Niem Voi Hoa: Flowers preserved through poetry

The multi-volume Noi Niem Voi Hoa collection is the result of more than a decade of continuous writing and publishing. The poems are systematically arranged according to the names of the flower species and accompanied by illustrative images, allowing readers to explore each flower alongside its corresponding poem. This structure gives the collection a distinctive character, combining poetry with a visual and informative approach to the diversity of flowers. Each species becomes both an object of observation and an independent source of poetic inspiration.

With 1,000 poems about 1,000 different flower species, the work reflects not only the scale of the achievement but also the continuity and consistency of the author's creative process. From the first volumes to the 1,000th poem, flowers have remained the central thread connecting his literary journey. The World Record adds an international milestone to Poet Nguyen Dinh Tranh's long-term work, while Noi Niem Voi Hoa offers a distinctive way of preserving images and impressions of flowers through Vietnamese poetry and the enduring rhythm of luc bat.
