Bodh Gaya is considered as one of the most important sacred place for the buddhist people in the world. Monks, Nuns and Buddhist People always dream to come here at least one time in their life. Thus, this become the place that attract most group of Monks, Nuns, and Buddhist People come to revere and pilgrimage in the world with a numbers of approximately 10 millions of visitors annually

The place has the Bodhi Tree that has been revined most in the world

On the back of the maha bodhi temple situated to the west (see picture) there is an ancient pipal tree Ficus religiosa or Bodhi tree. It was under this tree that Gautama sat for enlightenment. The present tree is considered only as the descendant of the original tree. Each person come to the Bodh Gaya always wishes to pick up a leaf from that tree as a symbol for luck. Beside that, millions of monks, nuns and buddhist people hope that they can get a seed or revine a branch of that tree as a sacred gift of a pilgirmiage to one of the most places of Buddhism in the World.
