Bologna Children‘s Book Fair is the largest fair in the world about the children‘s publishing industry. It was held for the first time in 1964 and takes place once a year for four days, usually in March or April. The main reason for the fair is so that publishers can sell the rights of their books to different publishers from all over the world.
The Bologna Children’s Book Fair is so special because it is the largest and most important international trade fair for children’s publishing. It is a professional trade show able to reconcile business with culture.
The four days of the fair offered a very dynamic and diverse program of meetings, conferences, and talks. All the various topics of the industry are addressed from different perspectives, from illustration to animation, from libraries to bookshops, and from licensing to digitization.

Additionally, it is also a place for illustrators, authors, publishers and really any person interested in children’s books to get inspired and to make connections. Besides hundreds of stands from international publishers displaying their books, there are several exhibitions, presentations, workshops and activities at the fair.
