The Stiftung der Deutschen Bekleidungsindustrie (SDBI), also known as the German Fashion Industry Foundation, is a non-profit public foundation under civil law. Its full official name is Stiftung der Deutschen Bekleidungsindustrie zur Förderung der Ausbildung von Nachwuchskräften in der Modebranche (Foundation of the German Clothing Industry for the Promotion of Training Young Talent in the Fashion Industry).

Founded in 1978 by German textile entrepreneur Klaus Steilmann (1929–2009), who was once Europe's largest women's fashion manufacturer and known for the motto "Fashion for millions, not for millionaires." He established the foundation to support talented and needy young people in the fashion sector, as there was little public promotion or further education opportunities at the time.
The foundation's core mission is the future-oriented promotion of young talent ("Nachwuchsförderung") in the fashion and clothing industry. It focuses on supporting exceptionally talented students and emerging designers through education, further training, and public recognition. Its vision is "Ensuring the future of fashion." It operates as a non-profit and emphasizes sustainable, innovative, and creative development in the sector.
The organization believes: The future of fashion in the Western world lies in meaningful products whose identity, infused by the designer, is preserved. In contrast to the mass production of our globalized world, SDBI aims for strategic design management, focusing on the integration of product development, communication and distribution. SDBI is investing in an education based on these values.
