The building is distinguished by its elegant twisting form, rotating approximately 90 degrees from base to summit. Inspired by the image of a flame rising into the sky, the tower features a sleek glass façade composed of tens of thousands of reflective panels that change appearance with the surrounding light and weather conditions. Beyond its striking aesthetics, the façade also improves energy efficiency by reducing heat gain and maximizing natural daylight.

Lakhta Center serves as the headquarters of Gazprom, but it is far more than an office building. The complex also houses conference facilities, exhibition spaces, sports and wellness amenities, restaurants, retail areas, and public venues. One of its most popular attractions is the observation deck, located between the 83rd and 86th floors at a height of approximately 365 meters. As the highest observation deck in a building anywhere in Europe, it offers spectacular 360-degree views of Saint Petersburg, the Gulf of Finland, and the nearby Yuntolovsky Nature Reserve.

During construction, the project also earned a Guinness World Record for the largest continuous concrete pour, with 19,624 cubic meters of concrete placed over 49 consecutive hours. The tower has since received numerous international architectural and engineering awards, including recognition from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) for excellence in high-rise design.
