The Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) is the largest annual tourism and travel trade event in Oceania and one of the most influential tourism business gatherings in the Southern Hemisphere. Organized by Tourism Australia, the event serves as a major commercial platform where Australia promotes its tourism industry to the global market. Unlike consumer travel fairs aimed at tourists, ATE is a business-to-business event focused on building partnerships between Australian tourism operators and international travel buyers.

Each year, thousands of delegates attend the event, including airlines, hotel groups, tour operators, cruise companies, destination marketing organizations, and travel wholesalers from dozens of countries. Participants engage in thousands of pre-arranged business meetings designed to create tourism contracts, travel packages, and international marketing opportunities. Because of its scale and economic importance, ATE is widely regarded as the flagship tourism trade event of Australia and the broader Oceania region.
The event also plays a major role in shaping how Australia is presented to international travelers. Australian sellers showcase experiences ranging from luxury lodges and Indigenous cultural tourism to adventure travel, wine regions, wildlife tours, and coastal destinations. International buyers often participate in familiarization tours before or after the exchange, allowing them to experience destinations firsthand and later promote them in overseas markets.
ATE has been held for more than four decades and rotates between major Australian cities to highlight different regions of the country. Recent host cities have included Melbourne, Brisbane, and Adelaide.
