(AURI) Journey to promote records in Oceania (P.457) Anytime Fitness Sydney Airport: Oceania’s first dedicated airport-based gym

11-05-2026

(Worldkings.org) Sydney Airport introduced a new fitness concept in March 2026 with the opening of Anytime Fitness Sydney Airport, located inside the T1 International Arrivals terminal in Mascot, New South Wales. The facility is widely recognized as Australia’s first airport gym and is also considered Oceania’s first dedicated airport-based gym.

The opening reflects a growing focus on traveler wellness, especially for long-haul passengers dealing with fatigue, jet lag, and physical discomfort after flights.

The gym is positioned before the security screening area near the arrivals section, allowing both travelers and non-travelers to access it easily. Unlike traditional airport lounges designed mainly for relaxation, the facility was created to support physical activity and recovery. It operates 24 hours a day, serving passengers in transit, airline crews, airport workers, and local residents who may want a workout at unconventional hours.

Inside, the gym spans about 300 square meters across two levels and includes modern cardio and strength-training equipment from Life Fitness and Hammer Strength. The space also features lifting platforms, functional fitness areas, recovery zones, showers, and changing rooms. One of its unique features is the “Fit to Fly” program, which focuses on exercises intended to improve circulation, mobility, and energy levels before or after long flights.

According to Sydney Airport official announcements, the project is part of a broader effort to expand wellness-oriented services within the airport. Sydney Airport handles more than 40 million passengers each year and supports tens of thousands of workers, creating strong demand for around-the-clock fitness access. The gym also reflects a wider global trend in airports evolving beyond transportation hubs into lifestyle and wellness destinations.
