(ASRI) Journey to promote records in Asia (P.488) KLDEX: Asia’s first and largest integrated durian experience centre

14-07-2026

(Worldkings.org) Spanning approximately 1,900 square metres (20,451 square feet) across two floors, KLDEX combines multiple attractions under one roof.

KLDEX (Kuala Lumpur Durian Experience Centre) is Malaysia’s premier durian tourism attraction and is recognized as Asia’s first and largest integrated durian experience centre. Officially opened on 4 July 2026, the centre was developed by Malaysian durian company MyBolehBoleh with the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) and Tourism Malaysia. Located at the Malaysia Tourism Centre (MATIC) on Jalan Ampang in Kuala Lumpur, KLDEX was created to showcase the country's world-renowned durian heritage through education, culture, gastronomy, and immersive tourism experiences.

The ground floor features a guided durian tasting area, fresh durian retail outlets, cafés, restaurants, and souvenir shops, while the upper floor houses the Durian Culture Museum, an immersive theatre, an art gallery, and exhibition spaces dedicated to Malaysia’s agricultural and cultural heritage. The museum presents historical manuscripts, interactive displays, and educational exhibits tracing the evolution of Malaysia’s durian industry and its famous cultivars, including Musang King and Black Thorn.

The centre is designed as a comprehensive cultural destination rather than simply a place to eat durian. Visitors can participate in professionally guided tasting sessions, attend live theatrical performances inspired by Malaysian traditions, explore interactive exhibitions, and learn about orchard cultivation, terroir, harvesting techniques, and the country's diverse durian-growing regions. According to the facility's specifications, the theatre accommodates 120 spectators, the exhibition gallery covers 3,746 square feet, and the venue stages four live performances each operating day.

KLDEX operates daily from 10:30 a.m., with the museum open until 10:30 p.m. and the fresh durian retail area remaining open until midnight during operating hours. International visitors can purchase museum admission from RM49, while the combined museum-and-theatre package starts at RM68. In addition to on-site experiences, KLDEX also offers orchard tours by appointment, allowing guests to explore the journey of Malaysia's iconic "King of Fruits" from plantation to table.

As Asia's largest integrated durian experience destination, KLDEX represents an innovative model of agrotourism that combines cultural storytelling, education, live entertainment, and culinary experiences. By transforming Malaysia's most celebrated fruit into a comprehensive visitor attraction, the centre strengthens the country's position as one of the world's leading destinations for durian tourism while promoting the history, traditions, and global reputation of Malaysian durians.
