The exhibition featured 80 portraits of distinguished scholars associated with Indonesia's intellectual history. The collection ranged from historical figures such as Georg Eberhard Rumphius and Alfred Russel Wallace to modern icons including B.J. Habibie and Samaun Samadikun. Displaying all 80 portraits in one exhibition enabled the event to earn official recognition from MURI.

SciArt 8.0 was created to pay visual tribute to scholars as "heroes of intellect" while introducing their contributions to the wider public through educational and inspiring works of art. Rather than presenting academic achievements in a conventional format, the exhibition used portrait painting to make the stories of these influential figures more engaging and accessible.

The exhibition was organized through a collaboration between the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia and the Indonesian Academy of Sciences (AIPI). It marked the first time the two institutions had jointly presented an exhibition featuring 80 scholar portraits from diverse academic backgrounds within a single exhibition space, creating a landmark event that connected artistic expression with scientific and intellectual achievements.

By bringing together art and scholarship, SciArt 8.0 sought to bridge the worlds of science and creativity while inspiring younger generations to appreciate knowledge, innovation, and social progress. With 80 portraits of prominent scholars displayed in one venue, the exhibition was officially recognized by MURI (Indonesian World Records Museum) as the largest exhibition of scholar portraits, highlighting the role of art in preserving and celebrating Indonesia's intellectual legacy.
