The event featured 53 couples performing their akad nikah (Islamic wedding solemnization) simultaneously inside 53 Volkswagen Combi vehicles. The unique concept attracted Volkswagen enthusiasts from across Indonesia while creating one of the most memorable highlights of the national jamboree.
More than a record-setting event, the mass wedding was designed to support couples who had not yet obtained official state recognition of their marriages. The program enabled them to complete their marriage ceremonies free of charge, with administrative procedures facilitated by the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA). In addition, each couple received wedding attire and essential household items to help them begin married life.
Following the Friday prayer (Salat Jumat), the newlyweds took part in the traditional temu manten ceremony before joining a public celebration held later that evening. The series of activities reflected the spirit of community collaboration while offering a memorable experience for residents, participants, and visitors alike.
With 53 couples solemnizing their marriages inside 53 Volkswagen Combi vehicles, the event earned official recognition from MURI (Indonesian World Records Museum) as the largest wedding solemnization ceremony held inside cars. The achievement celebrated not only an innovative record but also a meaningful community initiative that strengthened Kediri's reputation as a creative, welcoming, and socially caring city.
