The festival was organized as part of the celebration marking the 285th anniversary of Wonogiri Regency, with support from the local government, community organizations, culinary businesses, and other stakeholders.

In its second edition, the festival served 5,555 portions of mi ayam (Indonesian chicken noodles) prepared by 35 micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). The impressive number of servings earned the event official recognition from MURI (Indonesian World Records Museum).

The celebration also marked an important milestone for the regency, as the Regent of Wonogiri officially declared Wonogiri the "Capital of Mi Ayam and Bakso." The declaration reflects the region's ambition to strengthen its identity as a destination known for two of Indonesia's most beloved culinary specialties.

Mi ayam was chosen as the festival's signature dish because it is one of the country's most popular and widely enjoyed foods. Beyond providing a festive dining experience, the event aimed to showcase Wonogiri's culinary potential, support the growth of local MSMEs, and stimulate the regional economy through the active participation of culinary entrepreneurs.

With 5,555 portions of mi ayam prepared by 35 MSMEs, the Wonogiri Mi Ayam Bakso Festival 2026 received official recognition from MURI (Indonesian World Records Museum) as the largest serving of chicken noodles. The achievement highlights not only the scale of the event but also Wonogiri's commitment to promoting its culinary heritage while empowering local businesses and strengthening the regional economy.
