The record was achieved as part of the university’s 2025 student orientation program. Known for its commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly development, the university organized the initiative to promote ecological awareness and encourage students to adopt environmentally responsible practices from the beginning of their academic journey.

According to the verified figures, new students collectively produced a total of 3,648 bamboo waste bins. The achievement not only established a national record but also demonstrated the active involvement of students in environmental conservation efforts.

Bamboo was selected as the primary material because it is one of Indonesia’s abundant natural resources. Beyond its aesthetic value, bamboo is environmentally friendly, rapidly renewable, and can serve as a sustainable alternative to plastic-based products. Through the creation of bamboo waste bins, the university sought to educate participants about responsible resource utilization and waste reduction.

The initiative formed part of the university’s broader green campus vision and aligned with environmental sustainability programs that integrate ecological values into education. The project was designed to foster environmental responsibility while encouraging practical actions that contribute to ecosystem preservation.
