The 2026/2027 PKKMB was organized by UNSRI to welcome 10,298 new students. The book donation campaign was one of the program's main activities, designed to promote a stronger reading culture among university students while providing books for schools across South Sumatra.

According to the organizing committee, new students were encouraged to donate books they had already finished reading. The types of books were selected according to the characteristics of each faculty, with reading themes based on different academic disciplines to ensure that the donated materials would be relevant and useful. The initiative received strong participation, with all collected books intended to support literacy development in schools.
The distribution program covers 17 regencies and cities across South Sumatra. The 8,157 books will be distributed to schools in Palembang, Prabumulih, Lubuk Linggau, Pagaralam, and the regencies of Banyuasin, Ogan Ilir, Ogan Komering Ilir, Musi Banyuasin, Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU), OKU Timur, OKU Selatan, Muara Enim, PALI, Lahat, Musi Rawas, Musi Rawas Utara, and Empat Lawang.
UNSRI also coordinated with the local Education Offices and the School Principals' Working Council (MKKS) to support the distribution process. The coordination was intended to ensure that the books reached the appropriate schools and provided meaningful benefits to the recipients.
At the UNSRI Auditorium on the Indralaya Campus, the MURI certificate was presented by Andre Purwandono, S.S., MURI Records Manager, to Prof. Dr. Taufiq Marwa, S.E., M.Si., Rector of UNSRI, on August 12, 2026.
With 8,157 books donated by the academic community through the 2026 PKKMB program, Sriwijaya University earned official recognition from MURI (Indonesian World Records Museum) for the “Largest Book Donation by an Academic Community.” Beyond welcoming 10,298 new students, the initiative turned the university's orientation program into a broader literacy and community-sharing movement.
