On April 4, 2026, the record-setting attempt was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Manish Shrivastava, Dean-HHM and Head of Department. A collaborative team comprising chefs, faculty members, and students from the School of Hospitality worked together to bake an enormous banana walnut bread on the university campus.
The finished loaf measured an impressive 30 feet (approximately 9.14 metres) in length and weighed 200 kilograms. Producing bread of this scale required meticulous preparation, from accurately measuring ingredients and maintaining consistency in the dough to carefully managing the baking process and handling the finished product. Every stage demanded close coordination to ensure the loaf met the intended dimensions and quality standards.
Beyond achieving an extraordinary culinary feat, the project also carried a strong social purpose. After the record attempt was completed, the entire banana walnut bread was distributed to underprivileged children through Zarurat, a social aid initiative. This charitable component transformed the achievement into more than a technical accomplishment, demonstrating how educational institutions can combine professional training with meaningful community outreach.
According to the Indian Book of Records (IBR), the initiative successfully brought together culinary expertise, precision, innovation, and teamwork. The project was designed not only to establish a remarkable record but also to showcase the capability of students and faculty to execute a highly complex baking operation on a large scale.

The accomplishment reflects the practical learning environment fostered by JECRC University's School of Hospitality, where students gain experience through ambitious, real-world projects that challenge both their technical knowledge and collaborative skills.
The record was officially confirmed on April 20, 2026, recognizing the university's successful preparation of the largest banana walnut bread. By combining culinary excellence with a commitment to social responsibility, the achievement stands as an inspiring example of how education, innovation, and community service can come together in a single record-breaking event.
