The SpinX ‘toilet cleaning robot,’ revealed in a new Kickstarter campaign, promises to do your dirty work in just 90 seconds without any help from a human. All you have to do is push a button to get it started. According to the creators, it’s fully autonomous, and can clean both the bowl and the toilet seat using a self-cleaning brush, soap, and water jets.
The campaign still has more than a month to go – but, it’s already far surpassed its goal of $50,000 dollars, hitting $64,222 as of November 13.Super Early Bird backers can get it for $199, though it appears the robot will eventually cost around $250. A video demonstrating the technology shows how a robotic arm concealed in the smart toilet seat lowers down into the bowl once activated.SpinX contains a smart sensor, to assess the shape of the bowl.
With this information, the robotic arm can scrub every inch of the inner surface, even down below the water line. The brush rotates rapidly, and contains a jet of water and soap. Once it’s done cleaning – a process which takes just 90 seconds, the brush then cleans itself, to eliminate up to 99.99 percent of the lingering bacteria.
According to the creators, SpinX operates on low power consumption. Its battery lasts 30 sessions before it needs to be recharged. At this time, you can also replace the soap. Not only could this be used in the home, but the team says it could make office bathrooms and other public settings far cleaner.
